"Through the Lens" of the Marketing Intern
Aug 16, 2024
I’m Riley, the Superior Ag Marketing Intern for the summer of 2024. I’ve been beyond excited to gain a real-world experience and head back to Purdue with a better understanding of my interests, skills, and the career path that I want to take.
One of my big projects for this summer was updating our internal photo library. This task provided me the opportunity to learn more about Agronomy, Livestock Nutrition, Grain, and Energy by traveling to nearly every branch or location throughout the summer. I traveled to one of our feed dealers with Chris Wehmer, rode in a sprayer at St. Meinrad, tissue-sampled beans & corn with Precision Ag, learned to fly a drone at Evansville, and woke up early take pics of cows being fed with Jordan O’Neill. Driving all over the southern part of the state allowed me to see more of Indiana and learn more about agriculture. Nothing excited me more than heading into the office in the morning knowing that I would have a camera in my hand the whole day.
Thousands of photos means hours of editing, so you could often find me deep in concentration as I cropped each image. Outside of photography, I was planning for Knowledge Day by creating the invitation and event guide, editing our Agronomic Insight videos, helping find information for our nutrition website update, creating the newsletter, and writing various blogs. This experience has significantly improved my skills with Adobe products such as InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
Overall, I had a wonderful internship experience. Thank you very much for allowing me this opportunity, whether it was sitting in a meeting with you, taking pictures at your branch, or riding along with you. I cannot wait to continue to learn and grow throughout my time left in college, and am excited to see where my career path will take me.
